ISLQ Staff

  Al Khansa, Najwa

Najwa teaches Arabic language for Early Childhood and elementary students. She taught Arabic Language in Ahlia School, Beirut for 3 years. She has graduated as an Early Childhood teacher in Beirut. She has a BA in Arabic Language from the Lebanese University, Literary College of Humanities and Science.
     
  Antoniou, Klelia

Klelia is the Learning Support Teacher for both Primary and Secondary. She holds a BA in Special Education and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from New Jersey City University. Klelia has spent the last four years working as a special education teacher in Cyprus. She worked with primary school students in both self-contained classrooms and inclusive environments. In 2007 she was invited by the Ministry of Education to give a series of talks on “Students with learning disabilities and the importance of acquiring social skills”.
     
  Batziou Botsi, Antigoni

Antigoni teaches Greek. She has a Degree in Pedagogical Department of Primary Education, major in Greek Linguistics from the University of Ioannina, Greece. Antigoni has over 13 years experience in public and private primary schools. She teaches Greek as mother tongue, foreign language and second language to both adults and children.
     
  Beatson, Clare

Clare teaches Year 1 and joined ISLQ from our sister school in London, where she worked with the PYP Curriculum for 2 years. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Education, Clare worked in her home country New Zealand, before moving to the UK.
     
  Besford, Jenny

Jenny teaches Middle Years Humanities. She has a degree in American Studies from Lancaster University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Secondary History from Newcastle University. Her previous teaching experience was in the North East of England.
     
  Bhagwat-Brown, Sarah

Sarah teaches Secondary English. She is originally from North Staffordshire (UK) and has been living and teaching in Doha for five years. She has over seven years' experience teaching English Language and Literature. Sarah holds a BA Hons degree in English Literature from Staffordshire University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from Keele University. Sarah enjoys reading, socialising and travelling and lives with her husband, step-son and much-loved black Labrador, Beau.
     
  Boehm, Robert

Robert is one of our Year 3 Primary Years teachers. He has Masters in both Psychology and Education from the University of Geneva and has trained as a Primary Years Programme practitioner from George Mason University. Robert has written about the genesis of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and is currently interested in the creation and pedagogical philosophy of the PYP.
     
  Campbell, Karen

Karen teaches Year 1. She is Australian, and has a Bachelor of Education degree in Early Childhood. She has previously worked in Jordan, Eritrea, Singapore, Egypt and the UK. She has a wealth of PYP experience and has attended various professional workshops.
     
  Csincsak, Judit

Judit teaches Hungarian, and has been in the Middle East for three years. Before Qatar she worked in an international school in Saudi Arabia. Previously Judit worked in Hungary and Germany and was a primary teacher in Hungary for two years. She has a Master Diploma in Business Administration and a Bachelor Degree in Teaching Economics. She is now working on her Master’s in Computer Education.
     
  De Vido, Tanya

Tanya is currently teaching Music (maternity cover). She is originally from Canada and has been teaching a variety of subjects to learners at many levels for 10 years. She has taught in Canada, England, Germany and Dubai. She has a B.A and a B.Ed, as well as a M.Ed in Internal Education from U.Syd (Australia). Tanya enjoys integrating Music and Languages with other curriculum subjects for students at any level.
     
  El Khansa, Randa

Randa teaches Arabic Language for elementary and intermediate classes. She taught for 15 years in Makassed, Beirut and she also taught in other schools in Beirut. She has a Licence in teaching Arabic Language and literature, and a Diploma from the Lebanese University, Literary College of Humanities and Science.
     
  Elkayar, Huda

Huda teaches Islamic Studies to all year groups in addition to Arabic. She holds a BA in Education and has over 14 years of experience as an Arabic and Islamic Studies Teacher in Egypt. She also has 5 years of experience in Qatar as a teacher and coordinator in Al Maha English School and several independent schools. Huda has experience with the basic and advanced standards of the Qatari Supreme Education Council, as well as courses in jurisprudence and belief from the Ministry of Endowments in Qatar.
     
  Ellis, Beatrice

Beatrice teaches Primary Mother Tongue French. She has a degree from the University of Limoges, France. Beatrice moved to Qatar in 2008 with her husband and daughter.
     
  Fabret, Sheila

Sheila teaches Spanish and Portuguese. She has a degree as a Specialist in the Teaching and Learning of Foreign Languages from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul UFRGS, Brazil. She holds degrees in Spanish Language Advanced Studies and a Masters Degree in Education from Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio Grande do Sul PUCRS, Brazil. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Portuguese.
     
  Glover, Bruce

Bruce is a Year 6 teacher. He has a degree in Geography and Linguistics, a Post Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education as well as a Sports Diploma. He has taught high school and junior school in Zimbabwe and Botswana. He is married to Shirley who teaches Year 1 at ISLQ and they have a son and a daughter.
     
  Glover, Shirley

Shirley teaches Early Childhood 1. She has a degree and a Diploma in Primary Education. She has previously worked as a teacher in Zimbabwe and Botswana.
     
  Gratze, Jenni

Jenni is originally from Ealing, England and has been a teacher for 30 years. She taught at Rickstones School for 25 years. Jenni retired from Head of Upper School in 2007, and has taught a variety of subjects, but specialised in Mathematics in her latter teaching years. Jenni has a B.Ed. degree and whilst on a visit to Qatar to visit her family, decided to stay to work at ISLQ.
     
  Habr, Nohad

Nohad teaches French at all levels. She holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees from Rouen University in France. Previously a French teacher in Al Mawakeb School, Dubai, she was promoted to French coordinator and then Head of the French department. Throughout her experience as a school director of Al Hikma-Homs Syria, she was able to supervise staff, communicate with parents and oversee the French curriculum.
     
  Hemmes, Ate

Before ISLQ Ate spent three years in an international school in Togo, West Africa. Before that he taught for 18 years in Holland working with IGCSE, Middle Years Programe and the IB Diploma. He has his degree in Fine Arts and Art History and worked as a workshopleader, moderator and examiner for the International Baccalaureate. Apart from being the Middle Years coordinator in the school he also teaches Art.
     
  Hemmes, Carin

Carin teaches first year Early Childhood. She has a Bachelors Degree in Youth and Children Welfare. Carin has previously worked as a team leader with ADHD children, as an Early Years teacher and has also worked in daycare. For 9 years she acted as Manager of two Daycare/After School Proficiency Centre in Holland (0 -12 years old). Before ISLQ she lived and worked in Togo, West Africa where she set up and managed the daycare for an international school.
     
  Hirata, Chiaki

Chiaki teaches Japanese. Qatar is her first overseas post, previously she worked in Japan where she taught English for seven years. Chiaki is qualified to teach in both Secondary and Primary and has a BA in English Literature.
     
  Ikram, Yvonne

Yvonne teaches ESL and German to Mother Tongue students. She is a graduate of the Linguistics and Translators Institute of Munich in Germany for English, German and Russian. Yvonne studied pedagogy at Humboldt University in Berlin, and holds an advanced degree from the Goethe Institute for teaching German as a foreign language. Previously she has taught ESL and German at Munich International School and Dresden International School in Germany.
     
  Ireland, Kate

Kate joined ISLQ from the International School of the Hague to teach Design and Food Technology, English B and Art. She has a Fine Art degree from Edinburgh and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has worked as an Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme Art teacher and coordinator of Theory of Knowledge in international education for the past 13 years and teacher of Craft Design Technology and Art in London for 6 years previously.
     
  Ireland, William

William Ireland is Head of Secondary and a teacher of English. He has worked in various international schools and in the UK. He has a BA(Hons) in English Literature from Anglia University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Roehampton College, London and a PhD from the University of Kent.
     
  Jarrett, Chris

Chris teaches Secondary Mathematics. He has a BSc in Applied Mathematics, and a teaching certificate from Christchurch College in the UK. Chris is currently completing a Masters Degree in Education and was Head of Mathematics at his last school in the UK. Chris is married to Lynda Thompson and they have 2 children.
     
  Jensen, Tracey

Tracey teaches second year Early Childhood. She has a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) which she obtained in Australia. Tracey’s emphasis is on teaching Art and she is experienced teaching the Australian curriculum.
     
  Keij-Oldenhuis, Betthilde

Betthilde teaches Primary Music. She is Dutch, and has a Bachelors Degree in Education. Betthilde has previously taught in the UK, France and Holland and speaks Dutch, German, English and French.
     
  Kelly, Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie teaches Middle Years Science. She has taught in international schools in Italy, Hong Kong and the USA as well as schools and colleges in the UK. She has a BSc in Psychology and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Bolton University, England.
     
  Kroezen, Gina

Gina teachers Mother Tongue Dutch. She holds a Bachelor of Education from INHolland University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands. Prior to working at ISLQ Gina taught in Brunei.
     
  Langlois, Nathalie

Nathalie teaches French. She is from Canada, which is where she gained a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Laurentian University, Ontario. She also has a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Niagra College of Applied Arts and Technology, Ontario. Nathalie moved to Qatar in 2006 and has worked at another international school in Doha before moving to ISLQ.
     
  Laubscher, Mabel

Mabel is the Primary Years Coordinator. She has over 10 years experience in international education, having previously worked in international schools in Turkey, China and South Africa. She has a BA degree in Education, a Higher Diploma in Education and a Diploma in Special Education.
     
  Le Guilloux, Céline

Céline teaches French at Primary Years and Middle Years level. She has a BA in English, in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) and an MA in French as a Foreign Language. She also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Secondary Modern Languages from Oxford Brookes University, England.
     
  Lindemann, Iara

Iara teaches Secondary Science. She is Brazilian and has a Masters of Arts in Educational Studies (International Schools) and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She also has other teaching qualifications in Chemistry, Maths and Physics. Iara is currently completing a Doctorate in Education at Bath University, in the UK. Iara has held a wide range of teaching and school management positions and lives in Qatar with her husband.
     
  Mathieson, Janet

Janet teaches Secondary English. She is British, and has a teaching certificate in English (UK), an MA in Modern Fiction, TESOL/EFL Certificate, a Diploma in Creative Writing, and a BA in English. Before moving to ISLQ, Janet taught MYP and DP English at an international school in Italy. Janet is married to Adam Tomlinson.
     
  McDonald, Kim

Kim teaches Primary Year 5 and is the Assistant PYP Coordinator. Kim comes from the UK and lives in Doha with her husband. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience with the PYP Programme, and is also a PYP workshop leader. She has over ten years experience in international education, having previously worked in schools in Austria, Switzerland, the UK and South East Asia. Kim also has a Masters Degree in Management in International Schools.
     
  Morgan, Jackie

Jackie is from New Zealand and is teaching in Primary Year 3. She has extensive experience in this area in New Zealand and this is her first position in an international school. Jackie is a graduate from Victoria University, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Education in Teaching.
     
  Mortimer, Darren

Darren teaches Physical Education. He has a Bachelor of Education in Secondary PE and studied at the University College of St Mark and St John, Plymouth, England. Before moving to Qatar he taught in England and China. Darren has played semi-professional football and still plays and coaches football on a regular basis in Qatar. Darren also has many coaching qualifications including football, basketball, cricket, tennis and trampolining.
     
  Opperman, Chris

Chris teaches Primary Years Physical Education. He has 12 years of teaching experience and taught in the UK, India and Southern Africa. He has a BA and BEd degree in Education Management, Law and Systems. He is a qualified coach in athletics, football, basketball, cricket, swimming and gymnastics.
     
  Opperman, Laura

Laura teaches Primary Years and Middle Years Music. This is her tenth year of teaching and she has taught in South Africa, Botswana, England and India. She has a degree in Music and an honours degree in Education Management, Law and Systems. Laura did a Voice Performers Certificate at the University of South Africa and previously worked as a Performing Arts specialist in Botswana. She now most enjoys singing and voice coaching workshops for choirs.
     
  Osatchoff, Tom

Tom is one of our Year 5 Primary Years Teachers. He has a BA in linguistics and philosophy completed in Canada and a Master of Teaching (Primary) from Australia. He has most recently been teaching at ISLQ’s sister school in London. Tom is enthusiastic about international education and plans to continue research on this subject.
     
  Page, Shirley

Shirley teaches Year 1 at ISLQ. She has 2 degrees, and has been teaching for more than 28 years. Before working at ISLQ she taught in Canada and the US. Shirley has 3 children, and in her spare time likes to ski, play golf, sing and write music.
     
  Papavasileiou, Areti

Areti comes from Greece and teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) at Primary level. She has a BA in English Linguistics from the American College in Greece, as well as an ESL certificate. She has worked as an ESL Teacher in Greece for 5 years, teaching children of all ages and levels.
     
  Pettinella, Pauline

Pauline teaches ECP2. Before moving to ISLQ, Pauline worked in Japan for 4 years. Other international teaching experiences include Vietnam, Uganda, Germany and the UK. Pauline is Australian, and has a Masters Degree in Education.
     
  Pierce, Mary

Mary is the ISLQ Librarian. She has both Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Library and Information Science with an emphasis on school libraries. She has taught in International schools in Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brazil, as well as schools in the United States.
     
  Rehu, Ariana

Ariana teaches Primary Year 3 and is from New Zealand. She qualified as a teacher at Auckland University. Before moving to Qatar in August 2009, she taught in her home country. In her spare time she enjoys playing rugby, netball, swimming and tennis.
     
  Roy, Anne Marie

Anne Marie teaches Year 6. She is from Canada and has worked in Georgia, Africa and Korea before moving to Doha. Anne Marie is qualified as a primary school teacher, and has extensive training in PYP and ESL.
     
  Salman, Rola

Rola teaches ECP1. She has a BSc (with second class honours) in Human Environmental Science from King's College in London. She also has a teaching diploma from the University of Beirut. Before moving to Qatar, Rola taught in the UK, Lebanon and the US.
     
  Scholten-Kool, Martine

Martine is Dutch and teaches MT Dutch and French at Primary and Secondary level. She has worked with International Schools and Companies in The Netherlands, Mauritius, Belgium and Malaysia. She speaks Dutch, French, English and German. She has a degree in Psychology from The Catholic University of Brabant (The Netherlands), French and NT2 (Dutch as Second Language) at The Amsterdam College of Higher Education.
     
  Shadbolt, Jill

Jill teaches Year 2. Jill has worked in international schools in Singapore and China and is experienced teaching and leading in the PYP Curriculum. Jill is British and has a Post Graduate Certificate of Education.
     
  Shadbolt, Martyn

Martyn is the Head of Primary. He is a highly experienced practitioner and leader in the PYP Curriculum and has been Head of international schools in Singapore and China. Martyn is British and has a Bachelor of Education degree.
     
  Spragg, David

David Spragg teaches Year 4. Before joining ISLQ he worked at another international school in Qatar for 7 years. David has a great deal of experience teaching the PYP Curriculum and has attended a range of professional workshops. Other international experience includes working in Milan and Seoul. David is British and has a Masters degree of Arts in Education Administration.
     
  Spragg, Tracy

Tracy teaches Primary EAL (English as an additional language) and also does some classroom teaching. Before joining ISLQ she worked at another international school in Qatar for 7 years. Other international teaching experiences include Milan and Seoul. Tracey is British, and has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and an ESL qualification.
     
  Stewart, Mark

Mark teaches Design and Technology and is from Scotland. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Technology from Glasgow Caledonian University (UK) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Glasgow University (UK). Qatar is his first experience of working abroad after spending the last 3 years working in Scotland. He is a keen football player and is a SFA qualified football coach.
     
  Stratford, Dan

Dan teaches the Primary Years at Year 2. He has experience in teaching the PYP and the British Primary curriculum. Dan has worked in Learning Support and has also taught secondary English. He is in his tenth year of teaching. Dan is a Philosophy graduate who trained to teach at the University of East London. He has worked in inner city London and has over 6 years experience in international schools across 3 continents.
     
  Thompson, Denise

Denise teaches Year 2. She has a Bachelor of Education, Post Graduate in Social Science, a Diploma in TESOL and has been teaching in international schools for over ten years. Before moving to ISLQ she worked as an Early Years Coordinator. Denise has previously worked in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Venezuela.
     
  Thompson, Lynda

Lynda teaches Secondary Mathematics. She has a Teaching Certificate in Mathematics (UK) and an MA in Spanish. Before moving to Qatar, she was Head of Mathematics at a school in Bath (UK). Lynda is married to Chris Jarrett, and they have 2 children.
     
  Tomlinson, Adam

Adam Tomlinson teaches Secondary Humanities and English. He is British and holds a BA in British and International History from the University of Liverpool (UK). Before working at ISLQ Adam worked in Italy, the UK and the USA.
     
  Tops, Barbara Joan

Barby teaches Year 4. She is proudly South African and has spent many happy years in the classroom. Before ISLQ she spent five and a half years in an international school in Guangzhou, China where Barby taught the PYP Curriculum. She has a Primary Teachers Diploma in Education and a Higher Teachers Diploma in Education. Barby is passionate about teaching and finds each day in the classroom a fulfilling experience.
     
  Vidulich, Karen

Karen teaches ECP2. She has a Bachelor of Education, Early Chilodhood Development. Karen is South African, and before joining ISLQ lived and worked in Durban, South Africa.
     
  Wei, Liz

Liz Wei teaches Physical Education and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. Liz comes from China and taught there in an international school for 6 years before moving to Qatar. She is an experienced swimming teacher, a qualified life guard, and has coached a wide variety of sports. Liz herself is a sports enthusiast and holds a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo.
     
  Williamson, Ann

Ann comes from Canada and lived in Doha for 2 years before joining ISLQ. She teaches English and English as an additional language (EAL) at the secondary level at ISLQ. She holds a degree in Political Science and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She also has several certificates in ESL instruction and has taught in Korea, Poland and Kuwait.
     
  Wood, Jan

Jan is the Principal and moved to Qatar summer 2009 with her husband and teenage daughter. She has a wealth of experience with IB, and has worked in IB schools since 1984 most recently at the International School of Monaco and previously in Switzerland, Amsterdam, Taipei, Tokyo, and the UK. Jan has extensive experience with the International Baccalaureate programme and is currently working on an MA in International Education. Before working in school administration, Jan taught Geography, History, and Social Studies. Jan is British.
     
  Wood, John

John joins Jan the Principal and daughter Katie at ISLQ teaching Design Technology in the Secondary School. John is an experienced MYP and IB Diploma teacher having taught in the UK, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Switzerland and the South of France.
