Regular PTA activities may include a welcome BBQ, weekly cookery demonstrations in the kitchen, English language classes, a Book club, coffee mornings and cultural activities.
Added to the social and welcoming roles, the PTA will have a network of class and language representatives who will serve as the communication link between parents of their class (or language community) and the PTA Executive Committee and ISLQ staff and to coordinate parents’ participation in key PTA events.
Each class and language representatives will arrange regular coffee mornings/afternoons and invite all the other parents in the class – this will create an opportunity for social talk, identifying any general issues to be raised and gathering support/volunteers for PTA activities such as the BBQ and carnival. The representatives then meet to discuss key issues of general concern and pass on the views of other parents. |
